Maintenance and Fault Analysis of Axial Flow Fans
2024-11-26
1. Maintenance of Axial Flow Fans
1. The fan can only operate when it is completely normal.
2. If the fan is started after maintenance, check whether all parts of the fan are normal.
3. Regularly remove dust, dirt, and other impurities from the inside of the fan, and check the tightness of the belt at any time to prevent slippage.
4. Maintenance of the fan must be carried out when it is stopped.
5. If any abnormal phenomena are found during the operation of the fan, it should be stopped immediately for inspection.
6. In addition to replacing the grease after each disassembly and repair, it should be replaced every three months under normal circumstances.
2. Main Failures of Axial Flow Fans
1. Severe vibration of the fan. Friction between the casing or air inlet and the impeller, loose or deformed impeller pins, poor installation of inlet and outlet pipes causing resonance, dust and dirt accumulation on the blades, deformed impeller, and bent shaft causing rotor imbalance.
2. Excessive bearing temperature. Severe vibration of the bearing box, damaged bearings or bent shafts, poor quality of grease or impurities.
3. Excessive motor current and temperature rise. The inlet and outlet pipes are not tightly closed when starting, input voltage is too low or single-phase power failure, main shaft speed exceeds the rated value, input medium density is too high or temperature is too low.
Installation and Maintenance Instructions for Axial Flow Fans
1. Installation and Use
First, unpack and check whether the fan has been deformed or damaged during transportation. If there is such a situation, it should be repaired and corrected before formal installation and use.
1. Open the junction box, connect the power supply to operate (no load), the impeller rotation direction should be the same as the arrow on the nameplate, the fan casing must be grounded, and observe whether there is any contact with the casing. If there is such a situation, it should be adjusted immediately.
2. The fan connection flange should be connected with canvas or other flexible pipes to facilitate vibration isolation between the fan and the pipeline. The fan should not bear the weight of external ducts. The connection between the rooftop fan and the foundation, as well as the connection of the split-type hood, should have vibration-damping pads and sealant to avoid air leakage.
3. Once the fan is installed, all fasteners must be re-tightened.
4. After removing all obstacles from the inlet and outlet pipes of the fan, it can be officially put into use.
2. Maintenance and Care
1. Once a problem is found with the fan, it should be stopped immediately for inspection.
2. Regularly remove foreign objects from the front and rear pipes of the fan to prevent accidents, and regularly replace the lubricating grease in the drive parts. The fan should have rain protection measures when used outdoors.
3. In case of changes in working conditions, use valves to adjust the air volume.
4. Regularly measure the motor current of the fan. Under normal circumstances, the measured current should be less than the rated current.
3. Common Fault Analysis
1. Vibration (can be checked from the following aspects);
A. Rubbing during impeller rotation, which will produce abnormal sounds and severe vibrations. The reason is deformation of the fan casing or impeller components during storage, transportation, installation, or use.
B. Deformation of drive components or casing during storage, transportation, installation, or use, leading to imbalance of the impeller. Reasons include: deformation of the impeller under pressure; looseness of the connection between the impeller and the shaft sleeve; improper hoisting leading to deformation of the main shaft; looseness of the motor fixing screws.
C. The foot bolts of the fan are not tightened.
2. Heating: If the motor temperature rises excessively after running for one hour at normal temperature, it may be caused by one of the following reasons;
A. Excessive system resistance or unreasonable fan selection leading to motor overload, caused by excessive resistance coefficient of the pipeline network or valves not being opened.
B. Damage to the motor bearings, with clearance not meeting requirements.
C. Motor running with a phase loss or incorrect wiring.
D. Power supply voltage is too low.
4. Energy-saving Methods for Fans
1. Minimize pipeline resistance as much as possible, reasonably select pipe sizes and installation locations, and install inlet collectors.
2. Control the radial clearance value between the air duct and the top of the blades.
3. Reasonably select the fan model to avoid operating in the low-efficiency zone.
4. If the fan impeller is used alone, it must be matched with a suitable motor, otherwise it will cause.
